How you can benefit from a free initial IP consultation with GJE

The rapid pace of HealthTech innovation during the last 18 months has been well documented. During this period, companies in the HealthTech field filed more patent applications than any other field. Some of these HealthTech companies use IP as a tangible asset demonstrating the value of their business at an early stage. Additionally, HealthTech companies use IP to protect their business from competitors. Many types of IP require registration, and it is often necessary to register your IP before revealing it publicly. GJE’s attorneys can discuss all these issues with you and help you plan and budget for your IP strategy.

An initial IP consultation provides an opportunity to discuss your IP strategy in confidence with a member of our specialist HealthTech team. Common focus points include:

  • Is a patent suitable for protecting your innovations?
  • How can you identify and assess protectable inventions in the future?
  • Are there any ownership issues, for example, due to your technology being developed in cooperation with a third party?
  • Are there any other relevant forms of IP, such as trademarks, designs or knowhow?

These sessions are directed at those involved in innovation across the HealthTech community – they can give some initial direction to early-stage companies seeking to lay the foundations of an IP strategy, provide a second opinion on the IP portfolio of more established companies and provide informed guidance to investors on carrying out IP due diligence relating to potential HealthTech investments.
