Rachael is an experienced Chartered Trade Mark Attorney with a career of over 25 years in trade marks.

Rachael’s work extends to all aspects of selecting, registering and protecting trade marks worldwide, working closely with clients to build and maintain strong brand portfolios that are aligned to their business objectives. Her experience includes advising on trade mark law and practice; global trade mark portfolio management; assisting clients through complex trade mark issues; attendance at Hearings; opposition, revocation and invalidity proceedings; negotiation for and acquisition of trade marks and associated rights; searching and clearance; recordal of registrable transactions, and advising on corporate transactions.

An active member of the industry over the years, Rachael has contributed to the UK Trade Mark Handbook, published blogs, articles and guides, and spoken at educational seminars. She has tutored on advanced trade mark law courses, been an Examiner for the professional exams to qualify as a Trade Mark Attorney, an INTA committee member, and served on the CITMA Council, the governing body of the Institute.

In her time away from the office, Rachael’s interests include live music, running, and martial arts, mainly Jeet Kune Do and Kali. She also enjoys walking her dogs in the countryside.

Rachael specialises in managing complex opposition procedures and negotiating settlements.  She works across a variety of commercial sectors, but has particular expertise in:

Rachael graduated from Edinburgh University with a Master’s degree (LLM) in Intellectual Property Law.  She also has an honours degree in law and a diploma in legal practice.

Rachael qualified as a trade mark attorney in 1998 whilst at a magic circle law firm, and joined GJE in 2022.
