James has a BA Hons from York University, a LLB Law Degree and a MA Chinese Studies from London University and a Diploma in Legal Practice from The University of Law.

James joined Gill Jennings & Every in 2017 and qualified as a Chartered UK Trade Mark Attorney and European Trade Mark Attorney in 2003.

James Moore


James is a trade mark attorney qualified by examination, with over fifteen years post-qualification experience with a top London patent and trade marks firm and intellectual property law firms.

James has extensive experience across a broad range of industry sectors, and of blue-chip and luxury goods clients, including large pharmaceutical companies and brands. He is experienced in all aspects of trade mark portfolio management, including trade mark use and registration clearance advice, trade mark filing programmes,  prosecuting contentious proceedings, undertaking due diligence support for corporate transactions, providing advice on trade mark infringement and passing off matters, proposing and negotiating settlement agreements, preparing cease and desist letters, drafting undertakings and the preparation and execution of the transfer and recordal of transfer of intellectual property rights.

James is able to provide strategic and legal advice, and can demonstrate attention to detail, creative thinking combined with the highest standard of technical knowledge, produce concise and coherent written work, and display strong oral and written advisory and advocacy skills. He is pro-active and motivated, being able to work as part of a team as well as individually. James has strong commercial awareness, and is confident and assured in his dealings with clients, colleagues and other intellectual property practitioners.

In his spare time, James enjoys cooking, travel and watching sport.
