Sam graduated from the University of Warwick with a first class Masters Degree in Physics. Sam also holds an LLM in Intellectual Property Law from Bournemouth University.
Sam joined Gill Jennings & Every in 2017 after working at another top tier firm of patent and trademark attorneys.
Sam first joined the patent profession in 2010 and qualified as both a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney in 2015.
Sam works on a large range of technologies in the IT and engineering fields. Sam has particular experience with working with software and computer-implemented inventions and also has drafting and prosecution experience in the FinTech space. He advises clients of all sizes, from individual inventors and small startups to multinational corporations. Sam is experienced with patent drafting and prosecution both within Europe and further afield, and has also been involved with European opposition and appeal work.
Sam has experience of carrying out patent landscape analysis investigations to identify technological and geographic areas in which competitors are filing patents. This information can also be used to identify and take action against competitor patent applications before they have granted, mitigating risk at an early stage. He aims to understand not just his clients’ inventions but also their reasons and motivations for seeking IP protection to ensure that the end result is IP that is relevant, useful and valuable.
Sam is a keen fitness enthusiast and enjoys frequent workouts at his local gym as well as playing a variety of racket sports.
