Stream Bio win the Business Start-Up Award

We would like to congratulate our client Stream Bio for winning the Business Start-Up Award. The award, which was part of the 2018 Institute of Physics Business Awards, recognises and celebrates young companies with a great business idea founded on a physics invention, with a business growth potential and/or the potential of significant societal impact.

As a result of winning this award, Stream Bio has been invited to exhibit their innovation at Westminster Palace at a parliamentary reception which will host IOP trustees, members, MPs and senior business leaders.

StreamBio is a young startup, set up to exploit technology licensed from King’s College London. The technology is conjugated polymer nanoparticles, which emit different colours depending on the polymer used. This creates solutions for many R&D and in-vitro diagnostic applications which address longstanding problems in the life sciences industry.

The basic technology was protected by a single patent family with limited territorial scope. We advised the company on how to extend protection by claiming new uses of the technology in in vitro diagnosis and imaging, filing several new applications to help secure their position.
