GJE is proud to learn that the Financial Times has awarded us the highest possible rankings in its 2026 survey of Europe’s leading patent law firms.

2026 marks the FT’s eighth annual survey. Firms are assessed for their capabilities in six areas of technology, with only firms demonstrating the highest levels of expertise being awarded a “gold” ranking. GJE is delighted to have been ranked gold in all six areas:

  • Biotechnology, food & healthcare
  • Chemistry & pharmacy
  • Electrical engineering & physics
  • IT & software
  • Materials & nanotechnology
  • Mechanical engineering

GJE remains one of only eight firms in Europe to achieve a gold ranking in all six technical areas, and the only firm to have achieved this consistently each year since the survey began.

On learning of this year’s rankings, joint managing partner Stephen Haley said:

“Once again, I am delighted that we have been recognised as one of Europe’s top patent firms by the Financial Times. The results reflect the standards of excellence that our clients and the IP profession know they can rely on GJE for.”

“I would like to thank all of our clients and peers who recommended us, and for the ongoing trust they place in GJE to manage their IP portfolios.”

The rankings are based on a survey of 3,000 clients and patent attorneys which was conducted by research partner Statista in the spring. Only firms which were very frequently recommended by clients and peers in each sector are awarded gold rankings.
