Jack graduated from University of Bristol with an Masters Degree in Physics. He went on to receive a PhD in Materials Science from University of Oxford.
Jack joined Gill Jennings & Every in 2014 and is working towards full qualification as a UK and European patent attorney.
Jack works across a wide range of technology areas within the broad subject areas of physics, engineering, materials science and electronics. Jack has gained particular experience working on inventions within the fields of telecoms, medical devices, photonics, electronic devices and high technology and measurement tools – the latter benefiting from the knowledge gained from his PhD work using novel electron microscopy and analysis techniques.
Jack works with a diverse range of clients from small domestic start-ups and university spin-outs to large multinational telecoms companies. His regular work involves drafting and prosecuting UK and European patent applications. He has worked on a number of European oppositions and appeals, participating at a number of hearings at the European Patent Office.
Jack has worked on a number of freedom-to-operate and validity assessments and has gained experience of working on infringement litigation in partnership with a solicitors’ firm. Jack enjoys getting to know the clients that he works with and feels his strength lies in being able to understand and interpret complex technical and legal concepts and distill these into clear and concise arguments and advice, adapted to those they are presented to.
In his spare time Jack enjoys cycling and swimming and he is currently training for a triathlon.
