Jack graduated from University of Bristol with an Masters Degree in Physics. He went on to receive a PhD in Materials Science from University of Oxford.
Jack joined Gill Jennings & Every in 2014 and qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2018.
Jack works across a wide range of technology areas within the broad subject areas of physics, engineering, materials science and electronics. Jack has gained particular experience working on inventions within the fields of telecoms, photonics and electronic devices and works as part of our specialist MedTech group on inventions in the digital health sector. He retains an interest in green technologies gained from his PhD work studying nanomaterials for LED lighting using novel electron microscopy techniques.
Jack works with a diverse range of clients from small domestic start-ups and university spin-outs to large multinational telecoms companies. His regular work involves drafting and prosecuting UK and European patent applications. He has worked on a number of European oppositions and appeals, participating at a number of hearings at the European Patent Office. Jack has worked on a number of freedom-to-operate and validity assessments and has gained experience of working on infringement litigation in partnership with a solicitors’ firm.
Jack enjoys the interaction with the clients that he works with and feels his strength lies in being able to understand and interpret complex technical information and legal concepts and distil these into clear and concise arguments and advice.
In his spare time, Jack enjoys cycling and swimming and he is currently training for his next triathlon.
