Joe studied at the University of Cambridge and obtained a first class Master’s degree in Natural Sciences, specialising in Materials Science. His final year project involved investigating the compressive mechanical behaviour of bearing steel micropillars, using the results to improve finite element models for bearing failure.
Since joining the firm in 2018, Joe has obtained a PG Certificate in Intellectual Property Law with distinction from Queen Mary University of London. He also recently sat the EQE pre-examination.
Trainee Patent Attorney
Joe is a part-qualified patent attorney with experience spanning a wide variety of technologies within engineering, computing, and electronics.
He has particularly enjoyed recent work with clients in the fields of:
• medical devices
• wind turbine technologies
• automotive engineering.
Joe works with a diverse range of clients, from individual inventors and SMEs to multinational corporations. His work regularly involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the UK, Europe and further afield. Joe also has experience in contentious matters, such as acting before the EPO in opposition proceedings.
Outside of work, Joe enjoys keeping fit by running, cycling and going to the gym.
