Alexander Norden

Associate

Alexander has been a member of GJE’s IT and engineering group since joining the profession in 2020. He has extensive experience across all stages of the patent lifecycle, including identifying protectable innovations, drafting patent applications, developing filing strategies, and managing prosecution in the UK, Europe and globally. He also has significant experience with contentious post-grant matters, such as opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO, and infringement and validity opinions. Alexander also advises clients on the preparation and filing of UK and EU design applications.

Alexander works with a range of clients, from individual inventors, start-ups and SMEs through to large companies both in the UK and internationally, providing advice tailored to their specific needs. Clients value his practical advice and ability to effectively understand and communicate complex issues across a wide range of legal and technological areas. He has particular experience in fields such as robotics, marine technology, computer-implemented inventions, telecommunications systems, and music technology.

In his spare time, Alexander enjoys playing, performing, writing and producing music, juggling, rock climbing, and parkour.

Alexander studied at Oxford University where he received a first-class master’s degree in physics. His final year project related to the implementation of Bragg spectroscopy to probe ultra-cold Erbium atoms. He received an award from the university for his presentation on the (surprisingly complicated) mathematics behind tuning pianos.

Alexander joined the firm in 2020 as a trainee and was promoted to associate in 2024 upon qualification as a Chartered and European patent attorney.
