Alexander Norden

Trainee Patent Attorney

Alexander is a trainee patent attorney working in IT and advanced engineering.  He has worked with a range of clients, from individual inventors all the way to large companies both in the UK and internationally.  His experience includes drafting of new patent applications, prosecution in the UK and Europe, as well as oppositions, infringement/validity opinions and freedom-to-operate analysis.

In his spare time, Alexander enjoys playing the piano, singing in choirs and has a particular passion for bouldering and parkour.

Alexander’s areas of specialism are mainly in the physics and mechanical engineering fields.  He has particular experience dealing with:

  • Medical devices
  • Oil and gas services and equipment
  • Bioprocessing systems and methods
  •  Electronic cigarettes
  •  GPS and navigation systems
  • Energy and environmental engineering 

Alexander studied at Oxford University where he received a First Class Master’s Degree in Physics.  His final year project related to implementing Bragg spectroscopy to probe ultra-cold Erbium atoms.  Additionally, he also won an award for his presentation on the (surprising complicated) mathematics behind piano tuning.

Alexander joined GJE in 2020 and is currently working towards full qualification.
