Louis Macfarlane

Louis is a trainee patent attorney in the IT & engineering department, working towards towards qualification as a European and UK patent attorney. He works in drafting and prosecution of European and UK patent applications for clients ranging from university spinouts to multinational corporations.

Louis has a working proficiency in Japanese.

In his free time, Louis enjoys running and playing tennis. He is also involved in several music groups as a pianist and singer.

Louis graduated from Durham University in 2024 with a first-class masters degree in physics. His final-year thesis explored the use of machine learning and remote sensing to distinguish plant species and characterise plant physiology.

Louis joined GJE in September 2024.
