Ash is a qualified European Patent Attorney and is part-qualified in the UK. He passed the European Qualifying Examination on his first attempt and scored in the top 5% in most of the papers. He was also awarded with a Distinction for the Certificate in Intellectual Property Law taught at Queen Mary University of London. Ash holds a First-class Master’s Degree in Chemistry having graduated from the University of Bristol in 2015.
Ash joined Gill Jennings & Every in September 2015 after graduating from the University of Bristol in June 2015. He qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2019.
Ash’s work covers a variety of technology sectors including pharmaceutical chemistry, industrial chemistry, the food industry and household chemical products. Ash works with many of the senior patent attorneys at Gill Jennings & Every to advise a wealth of different types of businesses. Ash has worked with domestic and European SMEs, helping them to develop an IP strategy and secure international patent protection. Ash also works with foreign associates, advising them of European- and UK-specific issues while prosecuting ex-PCT applications. Ash also assists multinational corporations with various European work including opposition proceedings before the EPO.
Ash is experienced in drafting and prosecuting global patent portfolios. He also has experience defending granted European patents in opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO, as well as opposing third party European patents. Ash is extremely organised and efficient, so he prefers to present advice that is succinct and enables his clients to make simple, informed decisions. Having studied for over a decade before qualifying as a European Patent Attorney, Ash is an eternal student and enjoys learning about new technologies and discussing new ideas with his clients.
Ash is a keen sportsperson and enjoys keeping active. He was co-captain of the firm softball team in 2016 and a proud member of the GJE team when they won the CIPA 5-a-side football tournament in ’17.
