Kate graduated from Durham University with first class Masters Degree in Physics. Kate went on to obtain a MPhil in Theoretical Cosmology from Manchester University.
Kate qualified as both a Chartered and European Patent Attorney in 2019. Kate joined GJE in 2017 as a trainee as was promoted to Associate in 2019.
Prior to GJE, Kate trained for several years at another London-based firm of patent and trademark attorneys. Kate was also on secondment for a year working in-house as a patent consultant at a multinational defense technology company.
Kate is a Chartered & European Patent Attorney, who advises clients in relation to all patent matters in subject areas across the mechanical, electrical, computer technology, and medical devices fields.
Kate’s areas of specialism are mainly in the mechanical, electrical, and computing fields including but not limited to the following:
• image processing
• computer network security
• vaping devices
• optical systems
• medical valve and stent delivery devices
• medicament delivery devices
• seismic imaging
• oilfield equipment
• breathing equipment for aerospace or medical fields.
Kate also performs specialist work in relation to patents:
• infringement and Validity Issues
• portfolio Management
Kate works with a broad range of clients including large multinational companies , SMEs, start-ups, as well as private inventors in the UK, Europe, and further afield. Notable clients include globally leaders in telecommunications equipment and consumer electronics, a global provider of tobacco and vaping products, and a well-known provider of computing solutions.

Kate enjoys a variety of sporting activities including cycling, bouldering, skiing, and netball. Kate also likes listening to metal music and traveling frequently.
