James is an asscoiate in the IT & engineering group. He has experience in drafting and prosecuting European and UK patent applications in a variety of fields. He has worked with a variety of clients including large multinational corporations and start-ups based in UK, Europe and abroad.
Outside of work, James enjoys listening to music and browsing record shops to add to his collection of vinyl records. He is also a keen sports fan and plays football and racquet sports, alongside road cycling.
James has experience mainly in the fields of physics, engineering and computing. He has particular experience in:
- Optical devices
- Photonics
- Quantum technologies
- Vaping devices
James graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class honours degree in physics. In his studies he focused on photonics and quantum mechanics, writing a dissertation on weak measurements in quantum mechanics in his final year.
James joined GJE in 2021, and is currently working towards qualification as a European and UK patent attorney.
