Alistair graduated from the University of Bristol with a First Class Honours Degree in Physics.
He also holds a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary College, University of London.
Alistair joined the patent profession in 2011 working for another leading private practice firm prior to joining Gill Jennings & Every in 2014.
Alistair qualified as a European Patent Attorney and Chartered Patent Attorney in 2015.
Alistair advises clients in subject areas across the mechanical, electrical, computer technology and medical devices fields. He has particular experience working on inventions involving cryogenics, optics, electrical devices, mechanical innovations, diagnostics and computer related inventions including software.
Alistair works with a range of US, Chinese, Japanese and European clients including multinational corporations, foreign and domestic companies of various sizes and individual inventors. He works closely with clients to draft patents around their ideas and innovations and is experienced in UK and European patent prosecution, contentious patent matters such oppositions and appeals, as well as providing freedom-to-operate advice.
As a member of the design team, Alistair conducts design filing work and is experienced in contentious design matters having handled a number of design invalidity matters. He also advises clients on IP strategy and infringement and validity advice for patents and designs. Alistair seeks to gain an understanding of his clients’ business strategy and commercial goals and tailors his advice with these factors in mind.
In his spare time, Alistair is an enthusiastic photographer and enjoys travelling.
