Ed studied English Literature at the University of Sheffield.
Ed joined Gill Jennings & Every in 2011. He qualified as a UK and European Trade Mark attorney in 2010 and was awarded the Payne/Bennett Memorial Award for one of his professional exams.
Prior to joining the firm, Ed trained at another London firm of patent and trade mark attorneys.
Ed assists clients with all aspects of trade marks, including guidance as to appropriate search and filing strategies for new brands and markets, assistance in obtaining registered protection by handling objections and oppositions all around the world including negotiating settlements, health checks of existing portfolios and advising on the enforcement of rights against third party use.
Ed is a trade mark attorney who has advised clients of all sizes from start-ups to large multi-nationals. These clients operate in a diverse range of sectors including food & drink, hospitality, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and media and entertainment. Ed is a member of the GJE Food, Drink & Hospitality sector group.
His work also includes liaising with customs and trading standards to protect clients against counterfeits.
In particular Ed also advises as to enforcement strategy against inappropriate internet use such as filing complaints objecting to abusive domain name registrations, Twitter accounts and use on Amazon and eBay. Ed works closely with clients to identify their IP requirements and to provide appropriate strategic recommendations.
A keen cyclist and, although his playing days have now ended, Ed has also achieved a first dan black belt in Taekwondo.
