Mark graduated from University of Cambridge with an Honours Degree in Natural Sciences (Physics).
Mark joined Gill Jennings & Every in 2009 and qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2013 and a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2014.
Mark has experience in prosecution of UK, European and foreign patent applications in a variety of fields including medical devices, electronics and electrical equipment, food packaging and processing, printers, signal processing, image processing, photonics, semiconductor devices, nanotechnology, MRI, NMR and low temperature Physics.
Mark deals with a range of clients, from multinational corporations to start-ups and spin-outs to individual inventors. Since joining the profession, Mark has gained a wide range of experience in drafting and prosecution work, together with representing clients at EPO hearings. In addition to patent work, Mark has worked on a number of registered design cases, and is a European Design Attorney. Mark enjoys learning about clients’ new ideas and technologies, and ties this in with commercially-relevant IP advice.
Outside of GJE, Mark is a keen rower and GJE granted him a three year sabbatical to pursue his sporting aspirations. Mark went on to win two World Championship Bronze medals (2013/2014) and two European Championship Silver medals (2014/2016), as well as to represent Great Britain at the Rio Olympics in the Lightweight Men’s Four. Now retired from international rowing, Mark is a keen cyclist.
