GJE is proud to learn that three of our partners and directors have been named as Patent Stars in the IP Stars 2025 rankings.
Partner Peter Arrowsmith in the firm’s IT and engineering practice group has worked in the patent profession for over 20 years. His area of technical focus is physics with specialisms in optics and software. His clients range from European and US multinationals to smaller high-growth companies in the UK and Europe.
Partner Arnie Clarke heads GJE’s chemistry and life sciences team. He undertakes both contentious and non-contentious work in the fields of pharmaceutical, medicinal, industrial, food and organic chemistry. His specialisms include small molecule pharmaceutical chemistry, secondary formulation of pharmaceutical products, electronic materials, and industrial formulation chemistry. He recently led the high-profile opposition and appeal strategy relating to the revocation of related patents covering Teva’s $1.51 billion blockbuster Copaxone product.
Director Lucy Samuels is well known for her expertise in European Patent Office oppositions. In over 30 years as a patent attorney, she has represented clients in over 500 opposition and appeal hearings. Specialising in chemistry, her clients include some of the world’s largest producers of FMCGs, pharmaceuticals and artificial polymers and fibres. Lucy is a Board member of the European Patent Litigators’ Association (EPLIT) where she chairs the Education and Training Working Group.
The latest rankings follow four of our colleagues being named as Rising Stars and Notable Practitioners by Managing IP in October 2024, and the recent recommendation of our trade marks team.
