Katherine graduated from the University of Sheffield with an Honours Degree in Physiology with Pharmacology, before gaining her Research Masters Degree in Experimental Physiology and Drug Discovery and PhD in Neuroendocrinology at Imperial College London.
Katherine joined Gill Jennings & Every in 2019, having previously worked at other private practice intellectual property firms in the Midlands and London, UK. Katherine was also seconded to an international biotechnology company during her time in London previously.
Katherine has experience in a number of biotechnology related areas including diagnostics, gene therapy, immunology, microbiology and PCR technologies. Katherine also has significant experience in drug development and drug delivery methods.
Katherine has worked with a range of companies, including small biotech start-up companies to large pharmaceutical companies based in the UK and across Europe. She also has extensive experience of working with university technology transfer departments and advising on invention capture. Katherine’s day-to-day work includes patent drafting, UK and European patent prosecution and freedom-to-operate opinions.
Before joining GJE, Katherine was in both private practice and seconded to an international biotechnology company. This secondment allowed her to develop her due diligence skills whilst increasing her awareness of business management and commercialisation within the biotechnology industry. Katherine is commercially aware of the factors affecting innovative biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies and has adopted a strategy in which the client’s commercial needs are carefully considered.
In her spare time, Katherine is an avid cyclist, sugarcraft artist and can be found regularly at any of London’s underground music venues.
